Description
The men and women of Dublin’s North Inner City played a pivotal role in the 1916 Easter Rising. In fact, more of the rebels hailed from the North Inner City than from any other part of Ireland. Many men and women from Ballybough, North Strand, East & North Walls, Phibsborough and Stoneybatter joined the Volunteers, the Irish Citizen Army, Cumann na Mban and Fianna Éireann.
Joe Duffy’s account of baby Christina Caffrey’s death in her mother’s arms is just one of the hidden stories that this book brings to light.
This book sets out to tell some of our North Inner City stories of the Rising through family memories, historical facts, verse and photographs.
